Slow Body Listen is an introduction to the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education led by dancer, choreographer, and mat Pilates instructor Kirsten Michelle Schnittker (they/them). Explore through experiencing self-directed learning, rest and digest, and your creative and curious mind/body connection. Kirsten will lead two Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® lessons that will address different kinds of functional movement. These lessons emphasize slow, small and gentle movement in order to highlight and increase our ability to sense and feel. 

Feldenkrais blankets provided. Best for adults ages 18 and up, all experience levels. Requires auditory instruction.

PILATES is a movement practice that strengthens and lengthens muscle groups via low-impact endurance exercises. Its focus is largely on flexibility and core strength, and emphasizes proper postural alignment to support the weight of the spine. This mat class combines both classical and modern techniques and, with modifications, is suitable for all bodies.

 

Awareness Through Movement®

THE FELDENKRAIS METHOD® ATM® classes offer a stage for us to sense and explore different kinds of functional movement in our own bodies through slow, small and gentle movement. In class, you are guided toward noticing inconvenient or troublesome movement patterns and finding your way to freer, easful, and intentional movement. Come with curiosity, a desire to increase your awareness of yourself; and openness to learning through an organic process that requires self-study and direction. Best for adults ages 18 and up, all experience levels. Requires auditory instruction. Sliding scale available.
